I’m Rory Evans, this year I’m the academic affairs rep for the college MCR. I am a 3rd year DPhil student in Physics, where I’m working in the Planetary physics sub-department to design, build, and test concepts for thermal infrared cameras on future satellites to explore the solar system.
Through the year I will be running academic events for the MCR, including the termly academic symposium, graduate clusters, and graduate dinners. I also act as an academic liaison with college, representing the MCR on the college academic committee. If there are any concerns you have about college, or ideas about how your academic experience may be improved then please get in touch. Lastly I will be keeping an eye out for all other academic events or resources in Oxford that you might not be aware of already, giving notice of skills workshops and talks.
If you are new to the MCR I encourage you to make the most of it, and attend as many of the events that interest you as you can. If you are looking to get involved later in the year I will be asking for speakers for the MCR symposium so please get in touch, it’s a lot of fun and great practice for future talks.
